Growing up, Mim Strom never thought she would follow in the footsteps of her brothers, South Fremantle players Noah and Zach, and play football at a high level.

Now the 17-year-old is being touted as one of the most promising young female rucks in the AFLW Under-18 National Championships and is on the radar of AFLW clubs after a strong start to the carnival.

The two Bulldogs key position players are her idols, but kicking the football alongside them in their Exmouth backyard was once the furthest she believed she would ever go in the sport.

Not even being able to get a game at a local level because of the lack of girls football opportunities meant Strom never really considered playing AFLW or for South Fremantle like her brothers.
