It is nice to be able to frolic in the limelight at the moment, but the next five weeks could decide our fate.
Adelaide...away
Richmond...home
Essendon ..Away.
Brisbane ..home.
Collingwood.... away.
Then the bye for us.
All of those games will be hard for us, even though at this stage we sit above all of them.Three away in that five game streak.
Though you wouldn't pencil it in, the Lions game I would say would give us the most confidence of a win.
Adelaide, Richmond and Collingwood, are teams that you would expect to play finals. If we want to participate in the finals, we have to beat at least one hopefully two of those sides.Preferably away games.
Any thoughts!!!

Anchor I thought the same as you after the Saint kilda game and look what has happened.
You can tell you have been supporting this mob from the start, even after great wins we still find it hard to dare to believe😀😀.

Yeah we do TT, but the hope is always alive.
We just have to be realistic about where we are at.
I think as a team, we are a long way ahead of where we were last season. But I also believe that we can improve much much more over the season. Our forwards are still trying to work out each others game. But the inclusion of Hogan has made a huge difference. He may not be kicking a lot of goals ,,,, yet, but they will come.He has made our forward line a bit more organised.

With such a high turnover rate of players in the last 3 years, it would be great if the players could change the culture of perception. Every time we have to get on a plane, all you hear is Freo will get beat. The win against GWS who are rated very highly, means we have an opportunity to build and prove not only to the public, but to themselves, that winning anywhere is possible, just kick more goals. The team is further ahead than the expectations of those who are credited with being called experts, the squad is youthful again and can create their own culture and rid the stigma of always being labeled a home team only. As someone who generally sees us play away games, I've always embraced the hatered from the opposition crowd, but I can't do anything about it as I seat on a seat. I was at a game at football park years ago when we played Adelaide. The crows were odds on. We kicked the first four goals and didn't surrender the lead all game. It was like I was the only person in the crowd. It was dead silent, and we played well above ourselves to win by 25 points. We need to do this again and build on it.

A win would be wonderful to keep the momentum going, they just need to believe in them selves as you say frosty.
If they have that ,they will come away with the 4 points.
I agree with anchor about Hogan although he isn't kicking a lot of goals he is giving them drive, I love how he runs out to give a short lead  and marks it every time.   We will never regret him being in our team.

Still a tough road ahead for the club. No guarantees in any of the next three.
It was always going to be a tough set of games for us.
We need to get Blakely, Logue and Darcy back in as soon as they are AFL match fit.
Hopefully we can get Sandi back, who they say will join the main group this week.
It would be a bonus if we had the first three mentioned ready for this week. Blakely in as a mid, Logue maybe as a HB, or even tried up forward as he is a good over head mark. But I see him becoming a mid later.
Would be wonderful to win two of these three, but hard work to do it.

You asked for thoughts Anchors and I'm just catching up.

I don't expect Freo to finish in the top 8 this season, but come 2020 I expect to be playing finals with our team much more settled and not a changing carousel.  Remember every time you want to bring one back that means letting another up and commer go, hard work!!

Thought I would bring this to the fore again.
We won two of those five. One totally unexpected, but I was wrong, it was the next few weeks after the bye that has killed us.
The Melbourne and Carlton decided we won't make the right.
The loss on Saturday night was horrendous, but something that was in the wind. We were one game away from a smashing, and it came in spades then.
Our run from here in, maybe we could snag two wins. Not a good out look. But reality I think.
An amazing flow of vitriol from our "supporters " towards Ross Lyon on another site I am on. Not sure there was much he could have done though.
They, the Yellas, played some good football, but we couldn't find the big opening at any cost. Not sure Lyon was to blame for that.
It was hard to find any positives out of that game.
We need the likes of Brayshaw, Cerra, Hughes, Tucker, Logue, Switkowski, etc, to stand along side Fyfe, Mundy, Hamling, etc, not stand behind them, but along side. Help them hold up the load.
We need potential to become performance, week in week out. Month in month out.
We need more from more players

It’s a bit like we’re following the same script from last season and at this stage of the season we enter the DEAD ZONE because of fatigue, poor skills, apathy - take your pick!

PH, how can it be through fatigue!!!! I am sure we don't train any more than any other club.
Skills I will say a yes to. They certainly have to honed.
Apathy, from what!!! it wouldn't be from their pay check. Why should they be apathetic. It is their livelyhood.
Maybe some good old hard one on one stuff a couple of times a week to harden them up a bit is needed.

That's just the kind of position I could undertake, there will need to be a box of tissues close by as some of them would definitely need them during and after our chat. [bawl]

With respect to the fatigue comment I was thinking about the toll on young bodies from RL’s defensive game plan and the relentless pack tackling they do. The apathy relates to what seems to be the bulk of the team’s acceptance that its ok for one or two players e.g. their Captain or Walters to carry them. It’s got to stop and each and every one of them needs to earn their salary.

As far as us having a tough road ahead, there’s none more so than today’s game against Hawks. They need to pull out all stops and give us a ray of hope for the immediate future at least.

I feeling really buoyed this morning with the Eagles loss to the team that we managed to beat earlier in the season. Not just that, I’m feeling really buoyed that the Eagles lost after enduring a week of Eagle fan smugness. Hope they enjoyed their trip home last night!!
