In the mix: Forward's strong performance

A number of Fremantle players put their hands up for AFL selection when Peel Thunder defeated East Fremantle by 86 points at Rushton Park on Saturday.at Rushton Park on Saturday.

Here are some of the players who could be in line for selection to take on Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

Matt Taberner
Kicked five goals on Saturday while taking seven marks and laying five tackles. The versatile key forward also spent a brief period in the ruck with five hit-outs. Senior coach Ross Lyon, who was at Rushton Park for the game, said he would be putting the performance “in context” instead of focusing on the pure statistics.

Harley Balic
Backed up his 30-disposal performance in round one with 33 touches against the Sharks. Lyon has been upbeat in his assessment of the second-year player's performance so far in 2017, saying Balic has been “super” over Peel’s opening two rounds.

Hayden Crozier
Played a different role in round two, moving from the midfield to half-forward and kicking two goals, remaining a small forward option to replace the injured Hayden Ballantyne.

Sam Collins
Remains a solid key defender option for Fremantle after playing 12 senior games in 2016. Took seven marks and limited East Fremantle’s Matthew Watson to one goal after keeping East Perth’s AFL listed forwards goalless in round one.

Based on what Ross was saying last night, I think the team will be exactly the same as last week's team.

If that is the case, then we can only hope they put in a better performance for this game.

No prediction from me about whether we will win or lose. It's in the lap of the Gods.

I can understand the reason for keeping the team the same, but Balic has had 30 and 33 , and has had a real influence in both of Peels wins.Hughes is part of the future as much as Balic, but I don't think he has performed as well.
A couple of backmen will be under the pump this weekend,Johnson and Dawson.Dawson I have been an advocate for, but he can't play on the big power house forwards.Johnson had a real shocker last week and will not want to put in another like that.
I don't think Taberner will travel, or if he does, he wont play unless there is an injury or illness.

29 = 353.

Einstein once said that the "definition of an idiot is someone who does the same thing over and over again and expects a different outcome".

Ross's decision to keep the same team along with the same game plan pretty much fits the bill.

I have very low expectations for the Port Adelaide game, and I'm still wondering when the rebuild will officially begin.

How profound PH.
The re build was over 4 years is what it will take he said, and at this rate it will take all of that.
What will be left is anyone's guess.
If only we could roll back the clock.

If they line up as named could be a long afternoon, Weak forward line and no goal kickers on the bench as well

I remember a few years ago we absolutely pants west coke but after that game they started playing winning football and I remember Simpson saying in an interview when asked what had changed and he said that finally the players interpritation of the game plan just clicked.im just hoping it doesn't take to much longer for it to click for us.
Looking forward to a much improved game today.
