We Bleed Purple

Harley Bennell has suffered a minor calf strain while training with Peel.

The 25-year-old had a scan yesterday with a subsequent report confirming a grade one tear in an area of his left calf unrelated to a previous injury.

Bennell will undertake a 21-day rehabilitation program and continue to train with Peel.

It seems with Harley that his football career is not meant to be, if ii is not one thing it's another.

I think it would take a miracle for him to play for the Dockers or any other team.

This is probably the worst news that we could get about Harley DF. This is a critical stage in Harley's decision making about his football career. Like every other Docker fan and the club we have been hoping that he would make the correct decision about his lifestyle so he can pursue his AFL football career.

We have invested so much in him (both financial and emotional) it would be nice to think that investment will pay off at some point.

This is probably the biggest test he will ever face.

If his resolve hasn't been tested before, it certainly will be from here in.

Not good news I am afraid.

It's hard to imagine his contract will ne renewed or the chance to have a contract beyond one year.

At some point Freo will just need to move on.  They can't carry him forever.

If tonight's informal interview with RTB is anything to go by, Harley will be back training with Freo as early as tomorrow.

It would seem that being sent back to Peel has had the desired effect on Harley and he has responded positively and done what he needed to do.

He's not out of the woods by any means, but it looks like he's moving in the right direction. It was also good to hear Matera say that Harley wants to prove that he wants to be at Fremantle and be an AFL footballer.

As we know though, words are cheap and it is his actions that will tell us what we need to know.

After all the set backs Harley has had , I really want him on the track, if for no other reason he owe's the club to do the right thing and perform well.   You can't blame him for all of his injuries, but you can blame him for his mistakes.

What better way than to give it his all, it has been a very long haul and he has a lot to make up for.

Time will tell.

It's too much of a rollercoaster for me. I wish him well....

That's where it ends really...
