Just want to give myself a pat on the back with my two improvers for 2019.

If you look you will se I have Logue and Switkowski as those players.
I reckon we have a real winner in Logue.In my opinion he will develop into a big bodied mid.Maybe take Mundys place.Played so little football the previous year so stood up very well this season.
Sam Switkowski, after so much injury , showed us why the club selected him and thought so highly of him.Quick, very hard tackler, attacks the ball with vigour.A pretty good kick, this will improve with the better performances of the team.All he needs now is to start to kick a few more goals a game.
Both players will cause a lot of headaches to opposing clubs in coming years.

2x25=Seinor&Michael.

29 = 353.

Improver one,Taylin Duman.

Improver two, Brett Bewley.
Smokey, Tobe Watson.

Yes Anchors you've always sung their praises, so a pat on the back for you!!  😉

I just want to acknowledge all the players that have developed over the past few years, too many to name here, but I could see it in those few final games.  Great hope for this playing group, led by our team leaders, especially Nat Fyfe, dual Brownlow Medalist now!!!

Going to resurrect this post, because It is almost time to look at who our improvers for 2020 will be.
Will we have a players or two from our new draftees that will be the big improvers. Or will it be a player or two from out last years draft that will have break out seasons.Will players like Dixon,North, Sturt, Valente,Meek,be the stand outs.
I liked what I saw from Dixon in the last game of the year.He looks a footballer.
Sturt and Valene were highly touted youngster when drafted, but missed large chunks through injury.Can they step up?
Or will there be just one, like maybe Henry, who hopefully will step in and blow the competition apart.
Any thoughts Purple people?

I think Henry, if we get him, for sure. Maybe even Valente, but I believe that the ones who have now been with us 2-3 years will be the biggest improvers in 2020.

My only concern is that if we play the experienced newcomers we managed to get in the Trades, how many will have to miss out under the new coaching regime?

And why wouldn't the new coaching team try to gets runs on the board immediately, as they will want to prove a point. And why wouldn't Longmuir and co do that? I couldn't blame them - but it would mean at least 3 places will be taken up in the top 22 from last year and 3 from our usual or developing usual would lose their places.  So how would draftees and i year players get enough playing time to show what they can do?

It means that every place in out top 22 for 2020 will be hard fought for and that makes for good prospects for Freo in 2020.  Only 6 months to wait now .......... sad, hey!

This is definitely the slowest couple of weeks on the AFL calendar.
If Freo can keep all or most of their best players on the park next year then it will be hard for the younger boys to get a crack in the seniors,not always a bad thing as then they will have a bit more time to get their body’s right for the rigours of senior football,but saying that I would like to see what North can do but not sure if his still contracted?
Will be super interesting to see who fits into Justin’s best 22!
My biggest improvers would be Tucker (hopefully his aloud to be more freewheeling instead of a blocker) Cerra and Brayshaw both went well last season but getting another solid preseason under their belts should help them make the next step in their development.
Bewley with his great run and kicking hopefully has a big preseason could end up on a wing and Valente could be a bolter if his body holds up,I think Sturt will be a bolter 2021 he still needs a bit more meat on his frame.
Meek was going well before his foot issue but Freo have a lot of talls so his good luck would most probably be someone else’s bad luck.

Without waiting for the reminder of our squad to be announced, my first pick for the improver(s) of the years will be Taylin Duman.
He has played 24 games and in my eyes has been a cool head under pressure.Like many other, his skills need to improve, but he knows how and where to find the ball.Is a good tight defender who plays to his role.Not afraid to come off his own man to to assist others in trouble.
Have to think about others.I did have Dixon in mind, but looks like he will be on the outer unless he plays some extraordinary footy for Peel.

I want them all to improve, last season was so disappointing after the bye. I'm sure with a new coach we shall unearth a gem or two.

.

Agree about Taylin.   He should also have a bit more meat on his bones next season. Although he’s tall and not big bodied by any stretch of the imagination, he’s not easily pushed off the ball. He’s actually a pretty fast runner as well so I hope to see even more of that under the new coach.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I feel like every player is now a blank slate in terms of how much they will develop and what they may be able to achieve under the new coach.

It’s going to be an exciting season.

PH, It doesn't look like Taylin has added much weight on his frame.But he will be good.
Just thinking that maybe I am going to throw in Bewley as my second improver.Then I would like to think the Zac Dawson look alike Tobe Watson will step up and make a name for himself.
