Geez the news that Hamling is now ruled out of Round 1 is a blow.  After injuring the ligaments in his ankle, it looks like Joel is going to be sidelined for several weeks.

The ace up our sleeve which has been our backline is rapidly disappearing.  Now we will be missing three of our regulars with Pearce, Wilson and Hamling all ruled out for Round 1.

It’s not a good start to the season and you’d think that Justin would be despairing with this latest addition to the injury list.

I just wonder what we have done to upset who or what ever it is that causes these things.I have a thought from way left field.
Some years ago, uder Damian Drum , I think, we had a blessing of the jumpers at Fremantle Oval.
Now I am certainly not religious, but
On the occassion I am talking about, we had a Padre from the WAFC, who incidentally happened to be the Padre for the Yellas.

I reckon rather than bless our jumpers, I am of the belief that he cursed them.😈😈😈😈.
His name was Neil Fong,

Maybe we need a smoking ceremony to cleanse our guernseys.

2x25=Seinor&Michael.

29 = 353.

Improver one,Taylin Duman.

Improver two, Brett Bewley.
Smokey, Tobe Watson.

The way to look at this is the opportunity it creates for others.
this is Brennan Cox’s time to stamp himself as a legitimate KPP.  A new coach, new season and an opportunity to fill a key defensive position is all before him.  Brennan won AA selection in under 18 championships as a KPD.
I must say his games when Ross Lyon played him forward didn’t impress me.

Although I would obviously prefer Pearce and Hamling , Brennan still has the attributes to succeed.
it’s up to him now.

Griffin Logue is certainly the obvious player for one of the other  Key defensive jobs.
Griffin’s preseason has been impressive and although he would be preferred as the third tall he won’t be out of his depth as CHB.
And as the cup goes up hear the shouting
Freooo, Freo.

Agree MCleody, it’s time for Brennan to step up.  From memory he has been training with the backline group, which in hindsight has been a very good thing.  I didn’t know he was a KPD when he was selected as I really only recall him playing down the other end, except for the occasional game.  He probably didn’t like playing forward either if his skill set was more suited to defending.  JLo seems to want to utilise players in positions where they’ve already proven themselves so it looks like Cox will definitely take on a bigger role down back.

Griffin Logue was also singled out by Hazelby MCleody as someone who needs to step up this season.  I think we are going to be very pleased with what we see from him this year.  He’s got a huge tank and he’s got speed in spite of his solid build.  I think if he plays at CHB, a sleeping giant will be unleashed.

You know anchor many a true word said in jest about our blessing of our jumpers and I do remember Neil Fong.
I also remember Drum saying how before every game  be that home or away he would say a prayer in church.
Didn't really do too much but  try anything I say .
But I hear you loud and clear about Fong.   Stranger things have happened.

From the scratch match the widely held view is the combination of Cox and  Logue in the Key defensive positions worked well and combining with Duman and  Ryan, the backline performed strongly.

I think we are going to be fine particularly if we get the run of Nathan Wilson back.
It is looking more likely we will see a debut in defence from Hayden Young.
So that rounds out the back 6 plus extra support from Reece Conca who I think is a bit underrated.

For round one versus Essendon, I understand Daniher won’t be ready for the clash.  That’s welcome news for Fremantle.

Just heard Hamling has had surgery on his ankle and the club can't say how long he will be out of action.
It never ends these injuries, I havn't heard of that type of ankle injury before with it being dislocated , I have heard of shoulders  elbows knee's but not too many ankles.    Gee we are lucky devils are we not.
