tip tops

To be honest after the first quarter I was about to give up on the boys but thankfully I stuck by them and they repaid my loyalty ten fold.
This game had it all both teams showed how Jekyl and Hyde they can be but Fremantle really did show what a fantastic never give up attitude and belief they have in each other and with two players down on the interchange as well must surely give the whole club a great lift and belief that they are now heading in the right direction.

I don’t think you can pick an individual that really stood out as that kind of effort has to come from the whole team digging in getting their hands dirty to grind out a win like that but in saying that Shultz did make a couple of great tackles at the end and calmly slotted the winning goal, not bad for a young man who’s lucky to of played twenty games I think Freo have found their new Ballas.

That was a really impressive come back.  They didn't come back out of frantic, grit, they logically worked through the issues and applied their game plan.  Not a top 8 standard over all as a team but certainly a move forward in their progression under a new coach.

Good to hear from you Goby.
Their chip chip game is coming along well now they have spent a bit more time on their skills.
I have been impressed with Aish and his ability to make the correct decision more often than not I think it goes hand in hand that with better skills comes better decision making. Now to see if they can carry on the great work they have done in the last three quarters against the saints into next week and the rest of this strange season.

For me, the most impressive aspect of this win was that we did it with two of our players sitting on the bench.  It certainly looked like it was all over at the end of the first quarter tip tops, but to our credit we fought back with a determination that we haven’t seen for some time.  Coming back from such a high deficit at the end of the first quarter to win was no mean feat, and it proved to be a record for the Freo Dockers.  This just screams of team “self-belief” to me.  JLo is to be commended for what he has achieved with our players so far.  It is very early days with respect to his coaching, but we are already reaping the benefits of a greater emphasis on skills training and a more balanced defensive/attacking game plan.

I’m loving Shultz’s game, his passion and the way he attacks the ball.  Full marks to him for keeping his composure and kicking the winning goal.  Serong took a very strong mark and finished it off with a very nice goal.  Luke Ryan and Taylin Duman also warrant a mention, having to play against much taller opposition and still come out on top.

It was a master stroke of JLo’s to leave Fyfe in the forward line, however great the temptation to send him back to the midfield, and it paid off nicely.  The young ones were left to get the job done in the midfield, and that’s exactly what they did.  Bradshaw had another great game, and looking at the amount of time that Banfield had to stay on the field (96%), it was a credit to him that he never stopped running and applying pressure till the final siren.  Stephen Hill showed us his silky skills once again with several strong deliveries.  It was another master stroke of JLo’s to send him to his brother, who had a very quiet game by his usual standard.  Good call.

All in all, it was a damn gutsy game and in spite of the nerve wracking final moments, it was a great game to watch.   On that note, I’m very disappointed in Neroli Meadows who tweeted “The fact that Freo has played the most entertaining game of the year is confirmation 2020 is stuffed in general”.  It was meant as a commentary of the abysmal low scoring Richmond/Sydney game and was supposed to be ironic, but was it really necessary to use us?

 Not impressed.

I was on a family holiday down on the South Coast yesterday, so holiday activities (combined with lovely weather) took precedence over the football, so unfortunately I missed out on seeing that amazing recovery, though I did enjoy my coastal walk with my wife and kids. I hope that it will give our boys a confidence boost going in to the derby next weekend.  Quite an amazing performance when you throw in the factor of the shortened quarters.

A great win, well done to the lads for their effort, things looked bad at the end of the first qtr but they clawed their way back to get us home.
They will all be more `relaxed now they have returned home after there stint away I am sure.
With so many of our players out I am not holding much hope for next week with the derby, would love for us to win in spite of that fact.
But as proven on Saturday anything can happen on any game day.
Welcome back Goby.

Welcome back Goby. You have been missed.

We fielded a back line of midgets who have never all been together in those positions. It took a quarter for them and the rest of the team backing them, to get it all together.Well done to them all.
That was a huge team effort. Some very good individual performances.Though I have had my doubts about Schultz, he has proven me wrong this season. He is a worker.
The much maligned Brayshaw and Cerr combo have proved a lot wrong. They are going to be better than average players for us for a long time.Brayshaw a blue collar worker, Cerra a white collar worker.
I believe that the move of Fyfe to the goal square spooked the Saints. They didn't know whether to double team him or play one on one.A great move by Longmuir.
The hub has certainly done us no harm.We went about it without complaint.I am sure that it will have made the players even closer as a unit.
So glad that Duman got another chance on the weekend.I am a huge fan of his.His only problem is he is pretty light on. Another 7 or 8 Kgs would be handy.

Wonders never cease to amaze. We were getting slaughtered, grinded our way back into the game, then got 19 points in front, then almost lost it, then won. How exhausting. I hope this drives a lot of confidence into the group for this weekend, this is the game we want to win.

Hi Frosty, always hard for sides to maintain the momentum after being so far behind. Two players down on rotations.
But from what we saw on the weekend, we should be looking forward to what is ahead of us.
Looks like we will field another midget backline against the Yellas this weekend.
