Fantastic game on many levels. The atmosphere was electric mainly because very few of us thought we could win. The game was played at a blistering pace and the kids were inspiring in the way they played like a cohesive unit.

That first quarter was absolutely brilliant, particularly the first goal by Banfield. Brennan Cox and Adam Cerra were two standouts, but there wasn’t one passenger. I thought that Apeness stood up when he needed to, Ed Langdon did his usual effective run and carry with the ball, young Giro was terrific, and Brandon Matera inserted himself on the game. As usual, Hamling was a trooper in the backline along with Wilson, Pearce and Ryan. Nyhuis did a damn good job as well. Lauchie and Connor were first rate as well.

I was really impressed with the fluid movement of the ball and the confidence that so many of the youngsters displayed. It was like a switch has been flicked and suddenly the whole group were making good decisions, kicking well and running and tackling hard. Geez I hope we see more of that.

We deserved that win and as far as being a boost to the kids’ confidence, I think it was as good as it gets.

Well done Freo. It was a mighty fine game.

Well said PH! Totally agree mate, their ball use and movement was polar opposites to previous weeks. Great to see! Apeness was immense in the final stanza and Jones did some good things also. Luke Ryan looks like a veteran down back now also!

Did Ross throw the baby out with the bathwater and finally let the kids play? Both sides badly depleted, but hey....we got the chockies. It will be interesting to see if Ross gives the kids more freedom this weekend. Adam Cerra should get a house lined with red carpet and be situated as far away from the airport as possible. He must stay, priority number 1.

I hope he does give them more freedom Frosty. We’ve seen what they can do when they’re allowed to take some initiative. A couple of consecutive wins will do wonders for their confidence and morale, to say nothing of our morale!!

Cerra has repeatedly said that he wants to wait until season end before opening up discussions about contract extensions. According to the media, Adam is the only player from the first five draft picks for 2017 who hasn’t extended his contract. Let’s not forget though that the WA media’s mission is to cause widespread panic when and where they can about anything that concerns the Dockers. So, they will make sure that even the remotest and unlikeliest of rumours will be put into the public arena between now and the end of season.

As far as I can see, there’s just no way for the club to force the issue with Adam. We just have to put contract talks on the back burner for now and try as much as we can to ignore the white noise coming from the media.

The more he gells with the rest of the young one's the better the chances he will stay.
We have another season to go with him, also we have the best facility's and the best home ground in the west.
What we need to do first is to win plenty of games between  that time frame so he can feel the thrill of winning with his mates.

I was glad to see that MY boy Apeness is hitting his straps. All we need is for him to stand up and remain uninjured for the rest of the season.
Cerra must have been superb for one so young. Was he unlucky not to get the NAB rising star? Best thing I believe for the club to do is just let him play and leave him alone contract wise.Let him play the game he loves without distraction.

Less zoning and more bodies/pressure in contests. Which you could say Adelaide allowed but a definitely an increase in effort and pressure from Freo made the difference on the day.

A bit different to asking young players to stick to strict game plan where there's multi layers to it and react to change or the counter an oppositions game plan. As in the Collingwood game but all in all  it was great to see the young fellas get out there and have a win.

Langdon's speed is super impressive and he has got some seasons under his belt and free from injury and boy is he making the most of it.

It was interesting to hear Cox say he ditched his advised goal kicking routine and went back to his old routine which seems to work better.  You have to wonder why coaches would even try to change a players routine before their nature style was questioned.  Also great to hear when he is allowed he kicks goals after training. Pleased for him to get a rising star nom.

Cerra was up and about as was Banfield.

Tucker needs to harden up.
