I didnt realise Freo had such a team of recruiters.

From @AFL

The Dockers boast one of the bigger recruiting teams in the competition. List manager Brad Lloyd is the boss, overseeing the scouting of AFL players, contracts and the draft, and has the final call on decisions. But responsibility also lies with recruiting manager David Walls, the son of former Carlton coach Robert, and Neil Ross, who is Fremantle's top pro scout. Trent Mosbey, David McMullin and Ed McMullin make up the Dockers' contingent of under-18 watchers. The club formerly assigned areas of the country to certain recruiters to track, but takes a more nimble approach now, pushing resources to where the pool looks strongest. Steve Gloury is a part of the Dockers' recruiting line-up as a recruiting analyst, Peter Gibbs works as a profiling expert, and former Hawthorn head recruiter John Turnbull, who famously chose Luke Hodge in the 2001 'superdraft', is a part-time consultant for the Dockers. Turnbull can offer a point of difference with his long recruiting background.

Our recruiting team certainly had an impressive year last year and the odds are that they will do so again this year.

I hope they're keeping themselves busy going after Mitch McGovern to entice him to the Dockers. According to Anthony Hudson, we are supposedly preparing to offer him a longer and more lucrative contract than Adelaide to come home and play for the Dockers. The story is that he is supposedly keen to return home and he has always loved the Dockers.

If it came off we would be getting a very talented player. It could also pave the way for his brother Jeremy to follow him once his contract with WCE has ended at the end of 2018.

Could you just imagine how WCE fans would react if that happened?

PH, the alleged offer from Fremantle is $750,000 with five years.The Crows off is supposed to be $300,000 or so for two years.

2x25=Seinor&Michael.

29 = 353.

Improver one,Taylin Duman.

Improver two, Brett Bewley.
Smokey, Tobe Watson.

Given that he wants to come home, he has always liked the Dockers, and the extra cash and longevity of the contract on offer from us, should be mighty tempting to him anchor.

Sorry to miss this new post Goby when you first opened this thread, over two weeks ago now..

I am very interested in all List Management talk and had also discovered how extensive our recruitment team was - so much bigger than many other clubs. Brad Lloyd has a big team and plays an important role for our club.  So all should go well for us in the upcoming trade and draft season Goby.

Freo have a full time psychologist too, did you know?  Only two clubs have that position on a full time basis. Our players are well served by a psych. on board. don't you think?

Chris Bond has nothing to do with our recruitment and list management - he is just the Football Operations boss. Administrator really.

Bring on the draft season and the trade period.

I guess that where we finish will determine just what our first pick will be in the draft.But we must finish up with a pick in the top ten wouldn't we.
Not sure where we go from there.We may make more impression at the trade table than at the draft.

Anchor I think players from other clubs and kids in the draft would have to be deaf, dumb and blind to not recognise that the Dockers are going to excel over the next few years.

I foresee our club being the destination club for a lot of players in the future.

We won't hear of too many parents of youngsters getting upset because they have been picked up by Freo, which has sometimes happened in the past. I know the fact that we are so far away comes into it, but we are a club with first rate facilities, an excellent club culture, and we are on the way up.

I have a lot of confidence in our Recruiters and I've no doubt that they will do very well again in the next draft.

Distance will still be a problem for some players. Too much travel and away from families.

Victorian clubs still hold sway with players that want to be in the lime light

Good facilities would help but I don't think it is enough of a draw card.

All very positive views PH but still it will be hard to get non WA players here.

A couple of things will make Freo a club worth looking at. Harley Bennell, what the... I hear you say, but the clubs treatment and dealing with Harley have been nothing short of brilliant. This young man has been through the ringer, if it was 10 years ago, he'd be playing club football in the sticks, and people would occasionally say "what ever happened to him". He's had a hell of a time, some of it self destructive, and some of it his body. But Freo the club has pushed him to be his best, for him. If, or if not he gets back to playing top level, it will always be a case of a modern club doing right by a player.

Micheal Walters, yes the favorite Son.  Lets face it, this talented, funny, team man - could have fallen out of the system. It's a credit to him, and the Dockers he did not. The involvement of his family, was amazing. The support, was great. And he is a success story, even if he never played another game of footy. But he will play loads more games, at the very top, at his very best, and we will all smile as he does it.

From a Kiwi perspective and thousands of kilometers away. Clubs who support players at the worst of times, are what makes a great club. Freo might not have won flags, but it won my support till the day I die.

Bloody brilliant post adam.

As you know I am a big fan of Son Son's, he's a little ripper and I have no doubt that Harley is going to be an absolute gem for us as well.

You have a lot of soul Adam, and it shows just how much you love the dockers.
We get upset when they don't perform well, but when they do, everything is right with the world.
Our day will come ( that was a great song ) and when it does Fremantle will explode.
We just have to look forward.
